Culture

Because learning French also means discovering French culture, each month we offer you the opportunity to take part in various cultural, tourist and sporting activities to discover Bordeaux and the local culture. Essential for a complete immersion !

  • All our activities are provided or accompanied by a French-speaking facilitator.
  • The activities are reserved for students following our French courses.
  • Registration required at the cultural service of the Alliance Française.
Upcoming activities

Bordeaux tour

Monday, March 3
3:00 – 5:00 pm.

Visit downtown Bordeaux with a volunteer guide, who will explain the city’s history and architecture.

Château Pape Clément

Tuesday, March 4
3:00 – 5:30 pm

Visit the famous Château Pape Clément wine estate in Pessac, then enjoy a tasting of 3 glasses of wine, including the excellent Château wine.

Pétanque Tournament

Thursday, March 6
3:00 – 5:00 pm.

Come and test your skills against other Alliance Française students in a pétanque tournament, a local sport much appreciated by the French.

Excursion to the Bay of Arcachon

Saturday, March 8
9:30 am – 7:00 pm

Climb to the top of the famous Dune du Pilat, then soak up the sunshine as you stroll through the town and along Arcachon beach.

French Apéro

Tuesday, March 11
6:00 – 8:00 pm

Come and meet Alliance Française students and practice French or other languages of your choice over a drink at the Central Pub in Gambetta!

Excursion to Saint-Émilion

Wednesday, March 12
1:30 – 7:00 pm

Discover the village of Saint-Émilion with a visit to the underground monuments and a wine château, where you’ll be offered 2 glasses of wine.

Visit Espace Darwin and the Right Bank

Thursday, March 13
3:00 – 5:00 pm.

Accompanied by our guide Jean, explore the Right Bank and Espace Darwin, with a special focus on the neighborhood’s street art.

ZZZzzzz, the dream experience

Discover an improvisational show in which you accompany a scientist as he investigates the land of dreams.

CAPC – Museum of Contemporary Art

Thursday, March 20

Discover and explore the world of contemporary art and the history of CAPC on a guided tour of the museum.

Cheese tasting

Wednesday, March 26
3:00 – 5:00 pm.

Enjoy a tasting of several French cheeses with a glass of wine, accompanied by explanations from the cheesemaker on the origins of the cheeses tasted.

Club Ciné : Hôtel du Nord

Thursday, March 27

Discover Marcel Carné’s cult 1938 film Hôtel du Nord with Catherina Vincent, host of Cinémascope 33.2.

SKIBUS SHUTTLES

December 14 to March 22

Until the end of March, it is possible to treat yourself to a day on the slopes with the Skibus shuttles !

From Bordeaux in the morning to Cauterets, the package includes the bus journey and a day on the slopes.

CHINESE NEW YEAR

Sunday, February 2

On Sunday, February 2, join the Chinese New Year procession from 2:30 p.m. at Place de la Victoire.

You’ll have the chance to witness the traditional Dance of Lions and Dragons, and parade down to the Water Mirror!

JUMPING INTERNATIONAL

February 6 to February 9

From February 6 to 9, Jumping International de Bordeaux will take place at the Parc des Expositions.

You’ll have the chance to watch various jumping events, a dressage show and even a horseball match!
